Challenging Yourself Out of the Comfort Zone
 

For a lot of people the hardest thing about being your own boss is the fact that you are only accountable to yourself. You have no one in the background telling us what to do, when to do it and most importantly, How to do it. For a lot of people making the switch to a home based business, this is the toughest part to get used to!

We know that there are many different functions with in our business that we have to do to be successful and bring in the income necessary to exist. There are tasks that we do not like to do; things that make us uncomfortable. But in order to be successful we have to stretch ourselves and think out of the box and get out of the comfort zone!

One of the easiest ways to do this is by simple challenges each day. What is it you fear? What tasks hold back your progress? List them down and work them one by one until you are comfortable doing that task.

If approaching people and handing them your business card is your difficulty, have someone go with you and work on it together. Make a point of doing it Once. Just one. Tomorrow try two and the following day three and so on. As you practice, you will become more comfortable with yourself and the process.

Is accounting or advertising your fear? By realizing we are usually afraid of the unknown, tackle that by taking a course and learn simple bookkeeping and/or advertising methods.

Will you like doing the things you fear? Probably not. But that is ok. You are showing yourself that you Can do it and overcome the obstacles. You can do it when you “have to” and soon it will become a “want to”. Work your Fear list everyday and eventually you will be stretching the boundaries of your comfort zone by growing your contacts and business in wonderful ways. You are kicking out the barriers that hold you back! Enjoy the journey!
