In any direct sales business there is the opportunity to lead, develop and train a team that you have brought together by recruitment. Some recruiters may be experienced at leading and developing a team. Some may be inexperienced. There certainly is a lot to learn and an even greater amount that you need know to be able to train others.

One thing that is imperative as a team trainer is to lead by example. Sure, it is easy to tell someone how to properly run a business and how to recruit and train a team. But in a direct sales business, leading by example is the easiest way to teach and show others how to be successful at their business of choice.

If you as a leader and team trainer expect your recruits to book and hold 2 shows a week, then you need to be booking and holding 3 or more shows a week. Similarly, if you tell people that it is easy to recruit 5 people a month, you need to be adding 5-7 a month.

Showing people how to work their direct sales business speaks so much louder than someone who tells people how to run their business. Your team will respect you and follow What you do if you are showing them How you do it. You know what happens if you tell people what to do… some people may get their back up.

If you want to be a strong and effective team trainer, take your knowledge that you have learned through trial and error and share it with your team. I think that leading by example is the only way that you can be truly train and lead your direct sales team into higher levels of success.

What do you think?!

With the economy such as it is, many families are looking to home based direct sales business to supplement or replace an income. If you are looking for a direct sales or home based business, there are a few important things you need to consider before choosing a company to work with. You want to make the right choice the first time, so take is slow and so some research.

Although it may seem like working at home is a dream come true, it is actually quite difficult for some. Blending in family, household and work can be a challenge. Here are some tips for you to decide if this is right for you.

1. Depending on your product line, you may have evening parties. Are you and your family flexible enough to handle this? You can double book and hold several on weekend days, but many weekday eves are party nights.

2. You will have to allow time for trainings and meetings with your manger and her team. This is especially important when you are first starting your business. You need a much support as you can get! Can you manage to include this in your schedule?

3. Part of your profits will be spent on supplies, so while you may be thinking you are making 40 or 50% in reality you will be making less. You need to manage your expenses and keep them low in order to make a good profit.

4. You are the CEO of your new business that will entail a lot of work on your part. This will include finding customers, hosting parties, selling product and advertising your business. If your business is local, it may also include deliveries and many more tasks. Make sure you have time enough to handle all of the work so you will soon get overwhelmed.

Does this sound like something you would enjoy and have time for? Study this list well and think of other things that will be involved once you decide on a business. Your manager can help you. Yes, a direct sales business is fun, but it is also something that you have to manage and incorporate into your family as well.

Are You Maximizing Your Profits in Your Direct Sales Business

Maximizing your profits in your direct sales or party plan business really comes down to how you run your business. So let me ask you. Are you a sales based direct seller or a recruiting based direct seller? Does it really matter?

I am a sales based direct seller. I believe that sales are the foundation and basis of our business in direct sales. By using customer sales and the growth of your business through sales as the main basis of your income, then you will have a stronger business overall. With this said, I am also of the belief that strong sales will lead to strong recruits who also use sales based business model.

Another important reason that I use a sales based business model is that you actually make more money from your team sales as you are getting paid on their sales as well as any increase in income from adding a recruit to your line. I truly believe that sales drive the whole system of getting paid from your recruits. They will also sell product and make money and start then recruiting, just as their upline shows them. And the circle continues and the strenght of the whole team grows. The more product your team sells, the more money you make as well as the company.

Recruit based income is a hard concept for me sometimes. By putting the most eggs in your basket based on recruiting and then hoping that you will build yourself a team that will support you is tough. How do you make a living in the mean time, while you are building your team? And how does your teammember become good at selling the product, if no one is showing them how to? Also, if no one sold product, how can the company continue to exist?

It would make me nervous to expect a team to support me. What if they all quit? What if they didn’t buy anything next month? What if the party circuit dried up for them and their recruting efforts died? If the product doesn’t sell, the company cannot profit either….

Where do you want your business to go? Have you thought about how you have structured your business? Are you maximizing that structure to the benefit of your income and your recruits income as well? Make sure you look at all sides of the business when setting up your business plan and structuring how you do business and share all sides with your recruits as well. Recruits will tend to follow your lead until they can create their own plan and become comfortable with the business as well as learning to maximize their own profitibilty. We certainly have a responsibility to our new business partners to make sure they are being profitable so that we have a long and mutually satisifying relationship.

So now you know the best of part of being a home based business owner. Maximizing your profits and your recruits profits as well. The more you sell, the more you earn!

Invest Your Time In Hostess Coaching To Ensure Home Party Success

Category : Direct Sales Work at Home Business Tips, Home Party Plan Tips

A Guest Posting by my friend and business partner, Shelly Hill. Shelly has worked in direct sales for years and years and has recruited hundreds of teammates and has held hundreds of parties. Enjoy!

If you are consultant with any of the Direct Sales home businesses, it is very important that you concentrate on coaching your home party hosts on how to have a successful home party. Why you might ask? Studies have shown that party hosts who have been properly coached have higher product sales and party bookings.

If you are not sure how to coach a party host, let me give you a few tips on how to do it.

1. When the individual books and sets the date, it is important that you immediately get a hostess pack to them. This packet of information should include your contact information, guest lists, extra order forms and catalogs for outside bookings, business opportunity information, booking and product specials, and other printed materials that they will need to help guide them through the coaching process.

2. Set up regular coaching telephone calls or emails with them. I recommend starting this process 4 weeks in advance of the home show date and I recommend that you contact them on a weekly basis. You will use these ‘coaching’ sessions to motivate your host about the party, answer any questions that he or she might have, and to inform them of any specials or booking offers. The more you motivate and excite them about the party, the more effort they will put into it to make it a success. A successful home show for the host, means a successful home show for you.

3. As you are conducting your coaching sessions, keep planting the seeds about your booking specials, product specials and home business opportunity. Over the years, I have found that the more I remind them of these specials and opportunities, the better return rate I have gotten out of it. We all lead busy lives, so keeping all of this information front and center in your hosts mind can pay off big time once the party time arrives.

4. If you have never done this type of coaching before, I suggest you talk to your manager or upline for guidance. In most Direct Sales companies, uplines have been properly trained by their respective home companies on how to do hostess coaching and they can pass that knowledge onto you.

When you take the time to properly coach your hosts, they will be excited when their party time finally arrives and this excitement will pay off for you! There will be great attendance, higher product sales and more bookings from the party attendees, and all of this means you and your host will have a successful home show.
